Sandra

From an early age I had this knowing that I am an artist. I attended art schools and acting classes. In university I went to study puppet theatre in Finland, Turku Art Academy. I was lucky to do a work practice with Duda Paiva company in Holland and had a whole Holland tour with a crazy show called “Love dolls”. After that I became part of Estonian Puppet Theatre as an actress and occasionally also as a director, set designer, puppet and mask builder. My first directed poerfomance was “Võlupood” that got even nominated for Theatre Awards. I completed a masters degree in Brussels L’école LASSAÀD which was focused on physical play and mask theatre. Over the years I have built loads of masks for different theatre, tv and movie projects. With a Belgian group Le Chemins de la Terre we travelled in Europe for several years and went to Ecuador and Benin with a clown-puppet show. As a freelance artist I have been part of Tallinn Kellerteater and collaborated with various theatre makers like Helen Rekkor, Anne Türnpu, Liia Kanemägi etc. Few times I have played small roles in some Estonian tv series. I’ve done lots of funny workshops abroad like building experimental marionette puppets in Slovenia or clown workshops in Italy, Berlin, Finland, Belgium. For a couple of years I was cheering up children in Tallinna hospitals.  I’ve always been very active physically and did acrobatics, judo, wu-shu, swing dance, yoga to name a few of my passions over the years. I also never really stopped doing art: for some years I had an ateliere in Tallinn’s old town where I painted portraits. I have illustrated a couple of children’s books, renovated ceiling paintings and always kept on painting for my own fun. Last five years I have mainly performed with children’s shows. Greatest hit being “Sinitriibuline Unistus” , a story I wrote about how a plastic bottle gets a new life due to recycling.

Over the years there has been a growing pull towards being in nature and joining a community. In 2022 I moved to South Estonia. Here I found the welcoming community of Tsirgumäe Toidusalu and I got inspired about growing my own food and building the collective vision of a harmonious future. I still perform occasionally, do ceramics, collect herbs and dream about carrots and leeks!
